Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
Magic Shell Chocolate Ice Cream Topping is a delicious soft runny chocolate topping which sets into a crunchy shell, as soon as it hits the freezing cold ice cream. It creates a delicious, set, chocolate topping with a wonderful texture contrast; shake over some colourful sprinkles or chopped nuts and/or grated chocolate and you are good to go! It is really easy to make, uses only 2 ingredients, and you can use your favourite chocolate. It works well with white, milk and dark chocolate.
Apparently today is London’s hottest day ever! It certainly feels that way. I don’t think anybody is really going to want to do much cooking but ice cream, on the other hand, is perfect in this weather. Charlotte went to pick up some for us yesterday, and funnily enough, the shops were pretty much sold out and she only found some less than premium vanilla ice cream. So, waste not want not, and desperate to cool down, I decided to zhuzh it up with this absolutely fabulous magic topping.
How to make Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
Collect all your ingredients together:
- your favourite chocolate, white, milk or dark
- coconut oil
How to make this incredible sauce:
- Chop the chocolate and place in a microwave safe bowl.
- Add the coconut oil and heat for 30 seconds in a microwave. Stir well and continue to blitz and stir in 15 second increments, until the chocolate has nearly melted.
- Set aside for a few minutes until the chocolate sauce is ready. If necessary, give it another blitz in the microwave to fully melt the chocolate. Your sauce is now ready.
- You can store this sauce at room temperature for up to a month, in a sealed container. I use a sterilised jam jar and lid. Do not store it in the fridge, it will harden.
When you are ready to serve:
- Scoop your ice cream into a bowl or ice cream cone.
- Drizzle over the chocolate sauce
- Very quickly shake over the sprinkles, before the sauce sets. EAT and ENJOY!
